It was reported that mining was essentially completed in the first quarter of 1997, except for small pockets of ore extracted during reclamation backfill. Cleanout of the Kid Creek concentrator provided additional production at year end 1997. Mine reclamation was essentially complete, with long-term groundwater monitoring now the principal focus.

Copper production increased due to increased mining rates, partly offset by declining ore grades. Gold production decreased in 1996, because a lower quantity of gossan ore treated.
