Fresnillo announced the production for the three months ended 30 June 2010. Highlights include: Second quarter silver production of 9.6m oz which achieved record levels when compared to same period of previous years. In addition, the quarterly gold production achieved a new record high at 91,254 ounces, a 33.9% increase over the corresponding period last year.
In 2009, Silver production reached a record 38.0 million ounces, while gold production rose to 390,913 ounces. The mineral concentrates sold by Fresnillo plc also contain lead and zinc by products, and in 2009 production of these metals declined by 3.0% and 13.3%, respectively, due primarily to lower lead and zinc ore grades and recoveries at Ciénega. Reserves increased at all mines in 2009, as did metal content in those resources.
