Hana Mining Ltd. announce completion of 8 new RC drill holes at it’s sediment-hosted Ghanzi Copper-Silver Project in Botswana. Four of the seven reported drill holes extend the mineralized strike length in the “New Discovery” section of the Banana Zone by 600 metres, now totaling 1.6 km, further extending the Banana Zone total to 15.8 km. Higher grade mineralized zones with mineable thicknesses were evident in three of the seven holes, continuing to support the opportunity of a starter pit in this section. Hana has now identified 500 metres of mineralized strike length showing +2% copper intercepts in this section of the Banana Zone. The best result was from RC drill hole HA-58-R which returned 14m @ 2.72% copper and 64.8 g/t silver from 126 m depth.
Hana Mining Ltd. report drill results for 4 new RC drill holes at it’s sediment-hosted Ghanzi Copper-Silver Project in Botswana. These most recent drill results confirm mineralization along the western section of the North Limb of the Banana Zone-an area referred to as ‘New Discovery’. This RC drill hole data assayed at significantly improved grade over the percussion hole assays (RC locations twinned existing percussion holes) that were included in the current 43-101 resource estimate (see press release dated June 1, 2009). Two of the four holes produced significant high grade sections, with 5-17 metre core sections showing Cu grades of 1.36% to 2.53% and Ag grades of 5.1 g/t to 32 g/t. One section also showed a 4 metre intercept grading 4.49% Cu and 42.5 g/t Ag. The assay results on these latest holes are consistent with regard to average resource mineralization thickness, and show mineralization at open pit depth. Assays indicate bornite is the dominant copper mineral, with minor chalcocite.
Hana Mining announced results from a desk-top hydrogeology study, investigating known and potential groundwater sources in proximity to the Ghanzi copper-silver project in Botswana. Two groundwater sources have been identified as likely project water sources; the Karoo Supergroup and Ghanzi Group aquifers, and three specific groundwater resource targets have been established within those known aquifers for more specific exploration and within the Karoo Supergroup, the Bodibeng Sandstone and Ecca Group aquifers to the northwest of the Ghanzi property offer the most promising targets.
