As a result of the decision to cease mining activities at the separately-listed Centralia coal mine, some of the associated mining and reclamation equipment is being transferred to the Highvale mine for use in production of coal inventory.

The Pit 08 licence application was submitted to the Alberta Environment and the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board.
April 30, 2007
Pit 08 site development will begin in the summer of 2008. The first coal will be mined in summer 2009. Mining is expected to continue at Pit 08 until 2020.
