Property NewsFebruary 19, 2010 AngloGold Ashanti announced that operations at its Iduapriem mine in Ghana have been suspended until alternative arrangements for tailings storage can be established. In parallel, the mine is accelerating the development of a new tailings storage facility and a water treatment plant, which it aims to commission in the latter part of 2010 or in early 2011. June 30, 2006 Production for the first two quarters totalled 2,837,728 g of gold at a second quarter cash cost of $13.12/g
Gold production decreased by 13% to 47,060oz after crushing and conveyor problems negatively affected plant throughput in the second quarter ended Jun/05. The cash cost increased 18% to $10.90/g. March 31, 2005 A mine-to-mill study is currently underway at Iduapriem and will focus on the optimisation of the front-end crushing system to further increase plant throughput. Gold production increased 10%, primarily as a result of improved plant availability and consequently, increased throughput. Total cash costs decreased 19% to $288/oz, due to increased production.
