In 4Q11, Rio Tinto approved funding to begin pre-feasibility work on the project, which would be developed over a nine-year timeframe using a staged development approach. La Granja’s initial leaching operation envisions production of up to 100 thousand tonnes of copper per year, with the potential to expand to 250 thousand tonnes. The subsequent addition of a concentrator could add another 250 thousand tonnes of copper production, bringing total copper production to 500 thousand tonnes per year.
