Coeur d’Alene Mines announced that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has reactivated the 404 permit for Coeur’s Kensington Gold Mine located 40 miles northwest of Juneau, Alaska. With approximately 90% of the mine already complete, the Company will immediately begin to finalize construction of the remaining areas of the operation.
Coeur d’Alene Mines announced that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has lifted its injunction regarding the Kensington Gold Mine 404 tailings permit. With the expected reinstatement of the 404 permit, the company may resume construction of the tailings facility, the only component remaining to be constructed at the mine, and for production to commence as scheduled in the second half of next year.
Coeur d’Alene Mines Corporation announced that the United States Supreme Court has released its decision affirming the previously issued permit for the tailings facility for the Kensington gold mine near Juneau, Alaska, USA. The decision clears the way for completion of the only item remaining to be constructed, the tailings facility, and for production to commence at the mine. Production is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2010. The mine is planned to produce 125,000 ounces of annual gold production and expected to provide an estimated 370 direct and indirect jobs. Kensington is a major gold project 100% owned by Coeur and located 45 miles northwest of Juneau. Proven and probable reserves measure 1.5 million ounces of gold.
