Appleton Exploration provides a summary of Phase 1 Spring 2009 drilling program on the Manalo Gold Project in the Republic of Mali, West Africa, complete with screen metallic check assays. The Phase 1 program comprising 18 reverse circulation (RC) drill holes totalling 1800 metres, 7 diamond core tails (cored from the bottom of selected RC holes) totalling 385 metres, and 95 aircore drill holes totaling 4615 metres targeted gold-bearing quartz veins within Birimian sediments. MDL-09-042 returned 7.5m at 2.55g/t Au, in Hole MDL-09-056 intersected 192g/t Au over 10.0m including 640g/t Au over 3.0m and 1.27g/t Au over 11.5m. In addition Hole MDL-09-049 which scissored MDL-08-032 yielding 11.0m with 1.13g/t Au, 3.32g/t Au over 18m in MDL-09-54 and 1.58g/t Au over 10.0m in MDL-09-053.
Appleton Exploration provides clarification on the high grade intercept in MDL-09-056 on Manalo previously reported. The reported 10 metre intercept is composed of 4 metres of abundant quartz, followed by 3 metres of metasediment followed by a further 3 metres of abundant quartz from the interval of 53 to 63 metres. The 10 metre interval stands out from the surrounding rock out as a distinct geological zone of alteration and concentration of quartz veining.
Appleton Exploration reported to have received gold assay results from the final drill holes of its spring 2009 drilling program. Highlights include: AC-09-93 on Transect 5 with 1.50 g/t Au across 8.0 metres, AC-09-61 on Transect 2 intersecting 7.53 g/t Au over 1 metre and AC-09-75 on Transect 4 intersecting 0.72 g/t Au over 3 metres. The drilling has been successful in identifying corridors of quartz veining on the southernmost four transects and provides a framework for follow-up closer spaced drilling.
