Exploration work 7 km south of the Bosluis Pan had discovered alluvial gravels identical to the diamond bearing gravels of the Bosluis Pan. Diamonds continued to be produced from the Bosluis Pan. A drill program to delineate the paleochannel over 7 km south of Bosluis Pan and further to the south was planned to start as soon as drill availability is confirmed. A mining decision was expected before the end of June. During 1998, as total of 229 holes (1,570 m) were drilled in the Bosluis Pan and nearby dunes. An indicated volume of 930,000 tonnes of insitu gravel grading 4.5 carats per hundred tonnes has been calculated within the pan.
