Aquarius Platinum reported an update to the announcement of Thursday, 27 August 2009 in respect of the unprotected industrial action by former employees of the principal underground mining contractor at Aquarius Platinum Kroondal and Marikana operations. Production restarted at the Marikana operations on 31 August as planned, with some production at Kroondal only resuming on 3 September. The engagement delay and employee deployment plan has extended the estimated ramp-up period
Announced that the Marikana mines have passes the Presidential Safety Audits in respect of mine safety as conducted by the Department of Minerals and Energy (DME). Everest was the first mine in South Africa to be audited under the newly instituted Presidential Audit system. The audits comprised two streams – a legal audit and a technical audit of certain installations and practices at mines.

Reported that production has resumed at the Marikana Platinum Mine following the unprotected industrial action by employees of the underground contractor. As a result of the temporary shutdown, production losses are estimated to be 3,000 PGM (4E) ounces. It is not expected that these ounces will be made up during the quarter.
