The Nchwaning III manganese shaft system, completed at a capital cost of R735 million ($103 million), became fully operational in February 2006. This complex complements the existing Nchwaning II and Gloria operations and has increased the group’s total installed manganese ore production capacity, which
now stands at 3.5 million tonnes per annum. Operating costs will reduce significantly as production from
Nchwaning III ramps up.
