An independent report on the thorny water issue at global resource giant Anglo American's USD1 billion Quellaveco copper project in southern Peru is due to be published shortly, a well-informed local source has told BNAmericas.com.

Global resource giant Anglo American is waiting for the international copper market to improve before developing its US$1 billion, 200,000 tpy Quellaveco copper project in Peru, a company spokesperson was quoted as saying by Lima newspapers, according to BNamericas.com. The London-based company has spent US$60 million to date on exploration, an environmental impact study and other preliminary work at the project in Moquegua department in the south of the country.

The feasibility study had been completed.
