Latest Information

Reported a recent geological mapping and channel sampling has identified several east-west striking zones of gold mineralisation on the Rio Maria West tenement. The West Rio Maria Target area is located to the west of the Rio Maria town site. The target consists of a gold-in-soil anomaly with values up to 1,443ppb along a west-southwest striking 1,000m trend. In early 2007, a detailed program of geological mapping and rock sampling was initiated over Rufino’s trend, with the objective of generating drill targets. During 2001-2003, geological mapping, geochemical, geophysical surveys and scout drilling returned anomalous rock “float” sample assaying 3.12% Cu, 1,150g/t Ag, 14.4% Pb and 0.4g/t Au. Regional rocks, soils and stream sediments sampling outlined a 10km gold anomalous trend (Rufino Gold Trend) located on the southern limb of the Andorinhas syncline. (Nov 13/07)
February 28, 1998
Follow-up work delineated several specific areas of significant gold mineralization in favourable rock units. One area contains a trench that returned an 8 m interval grading 2.4 g/t Au hosted by an ironstone unit with lateral persistance. In another area, several trenches returned gold mineralization, with a 6 m interval grading 11 g/t Au and 10 m grading 5.3 g/t Au in silicified volcanic rocks.
March 31, 1997
5 areas of significant gold occurrences have been discovered which warrant more detailed drilling and follow-up work. The areas include the Pampeana and Rufino targets as well as 3 other less well defined areas.
