Fortuna Silver Mines announced an updated NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimate for the San Jose Project located in southern Mexico. Indicated Resources have increased 83% to 2.69 million tonnes with contained silver equivalent ounces increasing 112% to 37.6 million. Silver and gold grades in the Indicated Resource category have increased by 12% to 295 g/t and 4% to 2.27 g/t, respectively. The new resource estimate will serve as the basis for pre-feasibility level engineering studies projected for completion by year end. The estimates are based on a cut-off grade of 150 g/t Ag Equivalent for the Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resources of the Trinidad Zone.
Fortuna Silver Mines report that the road blockade reported in a company news release dated April 16th, was brought to an end on May 6th by Federal and State police, as a result of a call to action by local Municipal and Ejido authorities. The company and local authorities are engaged in dialogue with the fringe group of demonstrators in order to ensure an equitable long term solution to their concerns. A police detachment remains on-site to assure there are no further disruptions on the access road to the town and Project. The company is in the process of gradually reinstating its ground activities.
Announced the completion of the 2008/2009 in-fill drill program on the Trinidad Zone of the San
Jose silver-gold project. The program has confirmed the presence and consistency of high-grade silver-gold mineralization in association with hydrothermal breccias, crackle breccias, quartz-carbonate veins and zones of sheeted and stockworked quartz-carbonate veinlets.Hole SJO-127 returned 14.22 m true thickness grading 6.75 g/t Au and 933 g/t Ag from 394.5 m.
