Latest Information December 31, 2006 The company foresee to increase the production from 100,000 tpm to 150,000 tpm, and later to reach 200,000 tpm, by the construction of new crushing plant which will replace two crushers in operations, in addition a new SX-EW leaching plant with a capacity of 7,000 tonnes of cathodes per year. September 30, 2005 The company submitted and EIA which involves the increasing in production to reach 100,000 t/m. The mine was in operations since 1994 and consists in the exploitation and processing of copper mineral resources by means of Sub Level Stoping as mining method, dynamic heap leaching, and solvent extraction (SE) and electrowinning (EW). The processed material is shipped by pipes to Minera Mantos Blancos´s plant and another part is processed on the company’s Pilot plant which uses the SE/EW technology. The useful mine life was estimated in 20 years. June 22, 2004 CastleRock Resources has an option to extend the term of a letter of intent with Sierra Miranda SCM, first announced in April, to acquire the Sierra Miranda copper mine and related assets in northern Chile. CastleRock now has until November 30, 2004, to ensure that the closing conditions are satisfied, including the completion of due diligence and to close the acquisition by the execution and delivery of a purchase and sale agreement for the mine assets and claims. Sierra Miranda produces about 20 million pounds of copper annually using lsolution extraction-electrowinning technology. |
