September 30, 2009 PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam announced that it has signed a long term transportation agreement (20 years) that entitles the company to gradually increase its coal transportation capacity from 11.5 million tons in 2010 to 22.7 million tons in the interval 2015-2029. At the same time it announced that a new railway and port projects were approved by local governments. The railway would link Banko Tengah mine in Tanjung Enim with Srengsem.
