Nautilus Minerals announced that it has received high grade copper, gold, zinc and silver assays results from the first phase of the exploration program at its 100% owned Tonga property located in Tonga. Highlights include 12.6% Cu, 34.0 g/t Au, 60.9% Zn and 185 g/t Ag.
Nautilus Minerals Inc. successfully completed the first phase of its 2009 target generation program in Tonga on 100% owned Nautilus prospecting licences. Hand-held XRF analysis indicates the high-grade of the Seafloor Massive Sulphide (“SMS”) systems sampled, with results up to 9.1% Cu and 34.9% Zn.
Announced a summary of exploration results in Tonga for 2008. During 2008, the combined exploration programs have identified ten new Seafloor Massive Sulphide (“SMS”) systems in Tonga. Six of these SMS discoveries were mapped by Nautilus itself during the program completed from MV Norsky in mid December 2008. The new SMS systems are named Tahi Moana 1 through to Tahi Moana 6. Tahi Moana 1 is 480 m long with an average across strike width of approximately 90m. It lies at a water depth of 2200m and assay results from nine sulphide samples report maximum zinc up to 45.1% (upper detection limit), copper up to 5.0%, silver up to 331g/t and gold up to 7g/t.
