At a well attended session on diamonds at the Cordilleran Exploration Roundup held in Vancouver last week a talk by Roger D. Morton that touched on the diamond exploration potential of komatiitic suites peaked explorationists curiosity. Roger Morton suggested that these non-kimberlitic non-lamproitic mantle derivatives could host potentially economic diamond deposits and that they would not likely be found using conventional heavy mineral kimberlite indicator mineral sampling techniques. It is only now becoming known that komatiitic volcanic suits can be considered possible diamond host rocks in addition to kimberlite and lamproite.

It was reported that an extensive program of pitting and trenching was completed on the property in June, 1997. This resulted in the discovery of diamonds in ultramafic bedrock source rocks at six locations. Diamond values in bedrock ranged up to 1.4 ct/m3, with some of the diamondiferous zones measuring in excess of 25 metres wide.
