Catalpa Resources reported that drilling at its Edna May deposit has returned consistent broad mineralised intersections. Sixteen RC and diamond drill holes for 4,066m have been completed as part of a confirmation drilling program designed to increase confidence in the Mineral Resource at depth with a view to upgrading Inferred Resources within the open pit design to Indicated. Highlights using a 0.5g/t cut-off includes from Hole EMD006 with 53.4m with 3.02g/t Au from 182.9m downhole including 1.2m at 76.0g/t Au from and in EMRC002 returned 12.0m at 2.43g/t Au from 45.0m.
Catalpa Resources Limited today provided a market update on construction progress at its flagship Edna May Gold Project, at Westonia in Western Australia. The fully-funded A$92 million project remains within budget, and is on schedule to commence first gold production in June 2010. Four 90 tonne trucks, one 120 tonne excavator and associated ancillary mining equipment are being mobilised to Edna May this week in preparation for the commencement of pre-stripping next week. Employment of the mine’s management and technical team has been finalised as is the first phase of employment of the mine equipment operating teams. The full complement of mining engineers, geologists, surveyors and supervisory staff will commence employment next week. GR Engineering Services, the major contractor appointed to refurbish the Edna May Operations gold plant, continues to advance construction on schedule.
