September 30, 2005 Ash content in West Bokaro Coal was further reduced from 15% achieved during the previous year to 14%. This enabled increased usage of domestic coal (67% of total coal requirement as compared to 54% during the previous year) and substituted usage of expensive imported coal, thereby reduced
manufacturing cost of steel.
In 2004-2005, reducing the ash content for part of the coal washed to 15% from 16% in the previous year.
July 7, 2001 4200 tonnes of weathred coal was processed. 30% clean coal was obtained.
