February 28, 2001 Approval from the Department of Minerals and Energy, northern region, for prospecting rights to be ceded by DeBeers. With the approval of the Department of Minerals and Energy, DeBeers will now complete the transfer of the prospecting rights to the Zuurverdiend property to Vaaldiam Resources (Pty) Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vaaldiam Resources Ltd. February 2, 2001 Shallow drilling (less than 100 metre hole depths) on both the Zuurverdiend and Makoppa properties has tested less than 50% of the K-4 anomaly. On the Zuurverdiend property, De Beers has traced the K-4 fissure over a strike length of 300 metres, returning drill intersections ranging from 0.15 metres to 8.0 metres in width. Microdiamond analysis completed by De Beers on the drill core and percussion drill cuttings, resulted in the recovery of 36 microdiamonds from a 52 kilogram sample of kimberlite, and 65 icrodiamonds from a 240 kilogram sample of mixed kimberlite and granitic country rock. A second east-west trending kimberlite dike system, known as X-74 fissure lies along the southern boundary of the Zuurverdiend property, some two kilometres south of the X-81 fissure. The position of the X-74 fissure is indicated by the presence of a significant garnet-spinel anomaly that has been traced in a westerly direction over a distance of approximately 600 metres. Three short drill holes completed by SouthernEra along the common boundary between the Zuurverdiend and Makoppa properties intersected kimberlite over widths ranging from 4.0 metres to 9.0 metres. Encouraging results were also obtained from the sampling of soils and gravels overlying the trace of the fissure system, which resulted in the recovery of one 0.22 carat diamond. |
