Industry professionals depend on Mining Media Incorporated (MMI) to save them time by providing mining and mineral processing news and technical concepts in a concise format. MMI’s two flagship magazines—Engineering & Mining Journal (E&MJ) and Coal Age — are considered must-read publications for their respective industries. In addition to its trade journals, MMI also offers its content in Spanish and Chinese. New in 2007, the editors at E&MJ will produce Equipo Minero, a bi-monthly Spanish language edition geared toward front-line managers in Latin America. As it has in the past, MMI will also offer technical content in a special Chinese edition.
In addition, MMI produces several directories which aid personnel at all levels of the mining industry, including the World Mining Directory, a listing of the top 250 mines worldwide; the Keystone Coal Industry Manual, a comprehensive manual that extensively covers the US coal industry; and the Coal Preparation Directory & Handbook, a complete, annual resource for the coal preparation industry.
The MMI trade show division offers marketers several opportunities to reach the mining segment, including three North American trade shows, US pavilions at several trade shows worldwide, exclusive agreements with major expositions, and bonus distribution at regional events. During 2007, MMI will produce Haulage & Loading, a conference and trade show focused on surface mining; Longwall USA, a trade show targeting America’s largest underground coal mines; and MineWest, a trade show focusing on surface and underground mining as well as coal and hardrock processing/handling inherent in Western US mining operations. Using the strength of E&MJ and Equipo Minero, MMI has organized US pavilions at several Latin American trade shows. Bauma, the largest trade show worldwide, has named Coal Age and E&MJ as an official media partner for its mining segment, Bauma Mining.
