    Diversified Mining Giant BHP Billiton has Reported Production Increases for the Quarter Ended 31December for Most of its Products Except Oil. Iron Ore Production Rose7% From the December Quarter in 2001to18 .4Million Tonnes. BHP Billiton Produced37 .1Million Tonnes of Iron Ore for the Half Year. Quarterly Aluminum Production Jumped13 % to266,000Tonnes,Compared With the December Quarter in 2001, Mostly as a Result of the Completion of a POT RE-Lining Last June at its Hillside Plant in South Africa and no Power Outages. BHP Billiton Produced 534 ,000Tonnes of Aluminum for the Half Year. BHP Billiton's Copper Production Rose2% in the December Quarter to225, 600 Tonnes,Compared With the December Quarter in 2001. Increased Copper Production was Attributed to Increased Production From Escondida's Expansion in Chile Offsetting the Production Halt at Tintaya in Peru. BHP Billiton Produced410, 100 Tonnes for the Half-Year. BHP Billiton's Zinc and Gold Production Decreased Quarter-on-Quarter by6% and13 % to44 ,115Tonnes and69 ,175Ounces,Respectively. BHP Billiton's Diamond Production Increased15 % Quarter-on-Quarter to1,071,000Carats. BHP Billiton Produced2.02 Million Carats for the Half Year.
