May 7, 2008 HudBay Minerals Inc. (TSX:HBM) reported a sharp drop in first-quarter profit compared with a year ago as revenue dropped more than 20 per cent, hurt by the strong Canadian dollar, shipping delays and a change in processing spent anodes, reports the Canadian Press. The Winnipeg-based company said Tuesday it earned a first-quarter profit of $21.6 million or 17 cents per share on $271.6 million in revenue. That compared with a profit of $63.1 million or 50 cents per share on $349.1 million in revenue in the first three months of 2007.

May 13, 2008 Tyhee Development announced preliminary results from the initial seven drillholes on its wholly-owned Clan Lake Property, Northwest Territories, Canada. Significant intersections include CL100, which returned 78.8 grading 1.94 g/t Au including 33.0 m grading 4.29 g/t Au. CL103 intersected 21.5 m grading 10.39 g/t Au, and CL104 intersected 11.9 m grading 15.58 g/t Au and 32.7 metres grading 1.15 g/t Au further down hole.
