Friday, March 31, 2006 ANGLO AMERICAN PLC and XSTRATA PLC Chile's giant Collahuasi copper mine will report lost production of 7,500-8,000t in 2006 due to an electrical failure in a concentrator, Pamela Bell, a spokesperson for joint project owner Anglo American told BNamericas.
"The electrical motor failure occurred four days ago and the loss in production will be 14 days in total," said Bell. The largest and newest of Collahuasi's three mills, the concentrator also was down for one month last year after routine maintenance on March 31, 2005, revealed it required repairs to the electric motor.
