Located in the Contact Mining District of Elko County, Nevada, Silver Star encompasses 15 unpatented lode mining claims. The land position surrounds a Northeast - trending veined silver bearing shear zone. Silver mineralization along the shear zone has been traced over a strike length of 3,000 feet and to depths of at least 250 feet.
The deposit remains open along strike and at depth; initial reconnaissance surveys by Millenium Silver Co. (''MSC'') and Mt. Evans indicate the potential for more parallel structures on the property. The Contact Mining District is known for structurally controlled, high grade mineralization within contact metamorphosed sedimentary rocks near the margins of large intrusive bodies.
MSC geologists believe that the Silver Star deposit has the potential to host a major silver deposit, which could be developed and operated as an open pit or high grade underground mine. The main Silver Star shear zone has been exposed at a number of locations by shallow open pits. On the southwestern edge of the Silver Star property, an old frame adit has been drifted into the shear zone, and a vertical shaft sunk to an unknown depth.
Numerous mine dumps cover the property. in 1971 Quantex Corporation drilled three core holes across the main structure along a strike length of 2,400 feet; intercepts reportedly averaged 18 oz. Ag/St plus 8% combined lead and zinc. Sunshine Mining subsequently acquired the property, and in 1972 drilled additional holes. One of their best drill holes intersected 20 feet grading 22.5 oz. Ag/ST. Similar grade intersections were reported in other holes by Sunshine Mining with widths ranging from 20-65 feet. No further exploration work is known to have been undertaken as the Silver Star since 1972.
