Company OverviewAztec Metals Corp. is a junior mineral exploration company based in Vancouver BC engaged in the acquisition, evaluation and exploration of polymetallic properties in Mexico.
The company is holding 100% interest in exploration concessions and pending applications totalling over 400,000 hectares in five project areas. Most promising projects include Matehuala, Charcas-West (both state of San Luis Potosi) and Viesca (state of Coahuila). Aztec is offering to sell, option or joint venture its Viesca project, for the other projects Aztec is seeking joint-venture partners. Detailed information on any project can be given on request upon signing of confidentiality agreement.
Summary Viesca ProjectThe property is located in the southern portion of the state of Coahuila (Mexico), about 60 km ESE from the city of Torreon. Infrastructure can be considered as excellent. The area is protected by the 2325 ha large titled mining concession VIESCA. So far Aztec’s exploration consisted in geologic mapping and surface sampling.
The geology is dominated by folded Mesozoic limestone and shale with intercalated horizons of submarine andesite flows and rhyolitic tuff. In the project area exist over fifty small historic mines, prospects and surface pits. There have been detected three different types of mineralization:; 1) stratabound Cu mineralization associated to quartz-carbonate-hematite veins hosted in andesite; 2) stratabound-stratiform limestone-hosted Zn-Pb-(Ag-Cu) carbonate replacement and 3) strabound-stratiform Cu-Pb-Ag-(Zn) mineralization hosted in rhyolitic tuff, limestone and shale. Mineralization style for this project is not yet well understood, however formation through volcanic associated submarine hydrothermal activity is strongly indicated.
Exploration identified already multiple targets. The most promising site is the Desertmine target with several shallow historic mine workings. The oxidized Cu-Ag-Pb mineralization of style 3 is not entirely exposed in these workings or at surface, but is estimated to range in width between 5 and over 20 m and can be followed up over a strike length of at least 300 m. Assay results from 6 samples (dump grab samples and channel rock-chip) returned an arithmetic average of 1.98% Cu, 1.78% Pb and 62 g/t Ag. The Desertmine-target is considered as a high priority target having potential to discover a multi-million tons resource.
Aztec had already planned a trenching and drilling program for the Desertmine target. The required permits for road construction, drill pads, trenching and drilling are in place.
