Additional View of the Quarry
The Site (approximately 69 acres) is currently occupied by Graniteville Materials, a supplier of a wide variety of aggregate products such as dense grade, base/fill materials, rip rap, erosion stone and clean screened stone that all meet state specifications. The Site is an active quarry with blasting, stone extraction, crushing, and the recycling of brick and concrete. The active quarry occupies 30 acres. There are 39 acres available for further development as a stone quarry.
Stone reserve is estimated at 42,000,000 tons. The quarry is permitted to extract 255,000 tons of stone per year. The stone limit may be quarried in one month to limit operational expenses. The estimated market value of 255,000 tons of stone ranges from $2,131,800 to $2,550,000. There is also potential for back-filling soil in accordance with the MassDEP Interim Policy on the Re-Use of Soil for Large Reclamation Projects (Policy # COMM-15-01). For the right owner, this property represents a long-term source of revenue from both granite extraction and soil back-fill near the largest City in New England and is convenient to major transportation routes.
