Historic resources of this Lead/Zinc/Silver deposit have been estimated at 500,000 tons grading 15% Pb, 1.5% Zn & 0.8 Ag oz/t, based on a depth of 200 feet below adit level, strike length of 3500 feet and an average width of over 4 feet from the main vein, open along strike and open at depth.
An additional vein offset is observed with Pb/Zn geochemical anomalies over a further 3000 feet.
The principal minerals are galena, sphalerite, barite and chalcopyrite in a calcite host. The ore is generally low in Iron (<0.1% Fe); having anomalous levels of REE (to 0.4% REE in calcite); analysis up to 24% Zn, 90% Pb (massive galena), 140 g/t Ag, and 0.2% Sb.
This mine was originally mined in the 1860's for a short period of time; again in the 1890's; and an attempt to re-open the mine in September 1929 met with a dam break and flood, by the time this was repaired the financial markets collapsed on October 9,1929.
