The Ruth gold deposit is situated in the Yellowknife metasedimentary basin. Gold occurs in irregular veins of glassy quartz, some containing minor arsenopyrite, pyrite, and scheelite, and has been cut by minor dykes and sills of quartz-feldspar porphyry.
