General Information & Property HistoryGeneral
Past producing high-grade silver mining property available for sale, Option, JV, Lease, etc. Features silver bearing aplite dikes and located about 1.5km northwest of Firth Lake. This claim is a 4 unit claim covering the former Thompson-Gowganda or Alpine Silver Mine occurrence.
Property Location, Access and Description
Access is gained by way of a drivable seasonal gravel road north from Highway 560, 12km west of Gowganda, Ontario. The claim block is a square measuring roughly 800m on each of its four sides. Vegetation on the claim is mixed deciduous (Birch) and coniferous (Spruce, Pine). Relief is very pronounced with a large north-south ridge of diabase rising about 170ft above the eastern third of the claim. Outcrop is common, and soils range from peat and soil to boulder clay.
Previous Work
The underlying claims were originally staked by E.J. Thompson, then acquired by Alpine Silver Mines Limited in 1920. 200m of open cut surface mining was done to a depth of 5m. An adit was also driven west into a diabase ridge for 176m to intersect an aplite dike at a depth of 51m; the dike was drifted along for 24m. Two shafts were sunk to depths of 9m and 15m deep. Over 350m of diamond drilling has been completed. A 50tpd mill was erected on the property however no production was reported to the crown. The mill has since deteriorated and most equipment is no longer present on the property. Grades of silver reported range from 20 opt to 200opt Ag.
Recent Work & Future PlansOre Sample - Native Silver on Aplite Recent Work by current owner
Trail cutting, line cutting, clearing of old trenches and mapping of the showings and workings relative to the claim boundaries has been completed over the last few years. Most reported historic work is supported by current field work findings. Attractive silver grades have been confirmed to exist in the aplite dike outcrops as well as in remnant surface ore stockpiles.
Samples are on hand, the property can be visited any time, a report of work done has been published and the claim is in good standing.
Plans for the Property
I will be continuing with an aggressive exploration and development program through 2008 and beyond including drilling, trenching, mapping and interpretation. I have the equipment, crews and know-how to complete the work. This could be a turn-key, low-cost advanced exploration project with very good potential for near-term production. Give the word and I can have the drill turning.
