Copper Mountain together with Tecoma Hill makes up the Lucin Mining District. The District produced Gold, Silver, Molybdenum, Copper, Lead, Zinc and Iron, begining in 1870, with most production before 1920. Production of record was as follows: Gold 30,453.07 oz., Silver 3,646,312 oz., Copper 18,195,944 lb., Lead 7,911,580 lb., Zinc 7,283,981
The Value of this Early Production was $8,581,980. This Product at todays price would bring over $162 million.
Available records indicate that extremely rich copper, lead and zinc ore was mined. Silver ore containing as much as 140 ounces per ton was shipped in car load lots.
Shipments from Copper Mountain began in 1870 with early transportation by mule train to Salt Lake City Smelters. In 1904 The Lucin Cutoff across the Great Salt Lakes brought service to the Tecoma Junction. Today the Southern Pacific RR Main Line serves the Tecoma Junction located 8 miles from the base of Copper Mountain.
Considerable tonages of copper and lead-silver-zinc remain in the old workings. The amount of the reserve is unknown, but on part of Copper Mountain 80,000 tons of copper have been blocked out. A large part of the Property owned by CMPI has not been explored.
