The 333.43 ha Silverback group of claims is located some 12.5 km northeast of Slocan, British Columbia on the north slope of Enterprise Creek. Good access from Slocan Hwy via the main Enterprise Creek road. The property encompasses the upper Printer Cr. and Westmont Cr. - 1,380 m to 2,340 m.
Exploration and Mining History: There is no recorded exploration or mining works on the property. The Silverback claims adjoin and partly overlap tenements of the past producing silver mines Westmont and Enterprise.
Geology and Mineralization: The rock underlying the property is coarse-grained porphyritic granite of the Nelson batholith. Structures are the most fundamental control in location of the mineralization within the Slocan camp.
The Enterprise mine (082FNW148) is located on the southern slopes of the Enterprise Cr. The lode has been developed by nine adits, several intermediate levels and two shafts and has produced 1.05 million ounces silver at an average ore grade of 2,952 g/t silver. Enterprise’s Crown granted mineral claims extend on the northern slope of the Springer Creek, where surface prospecting identified outcrops of quartz and silver-in-soil anomalies along the NE mineralized trend (ASS RPT 08953, p.13).
The Westmont mine (082FNW145) consists of at least four adits and is located on the northern slopes of Enterprise Cr. Limited ore production averaged 3,452 g/t silver. The main vein varies up to 2.4 m in width and averages 1.2 m wide. The lode swings to a more easterly strike and dips 70 degrees north.
Exploration Targets: Silverback is located immediately adjacent and partly overlapping tenements belonging to former silver producers that are part of a 6.5 km mineralized trend - which hosts numerous other mines. The trend continues on the northern slopes of the Enterprise Cr. and Silverback is located on strike with these mines and covers the inferred extension of the above mentioned silver and polymetallic mineralized corridor.
