Denver, CO – Who can resist the allure of glittery gold? Useful for both aesthetic and industrial uses, as well as being the standard for national economies, having major deposits of this precious metal is a boon to any country fortunate to have them. With a new book, geologist Gregory Levitan gives a never-before-available comprehensive study in English of the gold and gold-silver deposits and resources of the former Soviet Union.
Levitan’s Gold Deposits Of The CIS includes: (1) a history of gold exploration from ancient times; (2) a classification of the gold and gold-silver deposits; (3) a detailed description of more than fifty of the major or most typical gold deposits including their location, geological settings, mineralogy, and reserves; and (4) an estimation of resources of all CIS gold-producing countries and their potential for possible new discoveries.
For the first time, it contains a description of the recently explored Kupol deposit of the Russian Northeast and other CIS deposits never before described in English: Sarylakh, Sentachan, Natal’yevskoye, Kuru-Tegerek, Zod, etc.
This book should provide important material for comparative studies between the gold deposits of the CIS and the West. It gives a significant body of new information for scientists, exploration and mining companies, faculties and students of mining schools, and policy makers concerned with the exploration and development of gold deposits in the world.
