InfoMine Service Improvements and Rate Changes Coming June 1 2003

As you have probably noticed, particularly if you a long-time client, the extent of the services offered by InfoMine has grown dramatically over the years. From our simple beginnings online in 1994, when we offered just company and property content, InfoMine has grown to include a complete suite of mining industry information services including news, careers, professional development and much, much more.

We feel there is now an urgent need to rationalize our subscription processes to improve the service selectivity available to our clients. Therefore, we are implementing the following changes, effective June 1 2003:

  1. EduMine services (called enrollments) will be available independently from InfoMine services (called subscriptions).
  2. High-value sections of Events and Publications will become accessible only to InfoMine subscribers and/or EduMine enrollees.
  3. InfoMine subscription and EduMine enrollment rates will be adjusted to reflect these new service packages.

For further information, see http://www.infomine.com/subscribe/newrates.asp.

Oil Sands coverage has commenced! Alberta's Oil Sands, with total recoverable oil reserves greater than the entire proven reserves of Saudi Arabia, are a major bright spot in the Canadian mining industry. The existing Oil Sands mines have already attracted billions of dollars in capital expenditures and billions more are planned. To provide our readers with information on this expanding part of the mining industry InfoMine's company and property database, InfoMine db, has been expanded to cover the Alberta Oil Sands. Coverage started at the beginning of April with the addition to InfoMine db of all the companies involved in Oil Sands development and their projects. Full details on all the companies and projects will be added over the coming months as we collect and analyze documents for these companies from our live SEDAR document feed. To learn about Oil Sands companies, mines and projects do a Detailed Search and select 'Reserve Details - Commodity = Oil Sands' or keep a watch on our news for the latest Oil Sands developments.

Professional Development

Eight EduMine courses have been selected for the Certificate in Mining Studies program offered by University of British Columbia - Continuing Studies. One or more of these EduMine courses make up the online (required learning) component of a UBC Mining Studies Course. Credit towards a Certificate in Mining Studies is awarded to those who complete both the online and classroom components of a Mining Studies course. Classroom components are presented as part of the UBC Summer Institute in Mining Studies.

Professional Development (continued)

CIM Supports UBC, EduMine with Development of Online Lifelong Learning

The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) supports UBC and EduMine with development of unique courses designed to meet the lifelong learning needs of the mining community. In the words of Yvan Jacques, executive director of CIM - "These lifelong learning courses are a direct complement to our professional development program for those working in exploration, mining, mineral processing, metallurgy, and related industries. The unique format of the courses is tailored to the learning requirements of the mining community."

This section has been redesigned to be able to incorporate more information on the front page. Our SoftwareMine Editor Betty Gibbs has been contributing to this section for almost 5 years and would like feedback for this section. Watch for the new format in May!

News

InfoMine's new "In-Focus" package, launched last week, provides mining and exploration companies with the opportunity to focus timely news on their profile page on InfoMine. With open availablity of their news for a limited time period on the News and Investment pages, mining and exploration companies can purchase this exposure as a 3-month "Basic In-Focus package". This will be of particular interest to companies that are embarking on active exploration and/or drilling programs in May, as their news will be channeled by the property and commodity..
