Human Resources – Job Advertising Not Enough?
Try a Resume Database!
There are two types of Job Seekers – Active and Passive.
The active job seeker is the one we are all familiar with, and have had the opportunity to be ourselves. This is the job seeker that is looking for work as if it were their full-time job. Most likely, this is because they are currently unemployed.
In a hot market however, we have a new breed of job seeker emerge – the passive job seeker. The passive job seeker is already employed, but is keeping their radar running for better opportunities. Whether they are dissatisfied with their current position, or they simply want to take advantage of increasing competitive wages in a high demand-low supply workforce, this creature is ready for work – and their numbers are growing steadily!
Since its creation last year, InfoMine’s mining specific resume database has matured to a very respectable 1,400 active job seekers. Up until last week, we offered access to our resume database for no charge, save registration. Now, being a highly valued product, we want to reward all of those employers that have remained loyal to us – so we are offering our resume access subscription at a significantly reduced introductory price.
So for a limited time only, access to 1,400+ mining specific job seekers resumes is being offered for only $65 monthly. more »

September Roundup
Base metal prices took a tumble in September partly due to demand worries. But concerns about supply are helping metals find a bottom. Although a lot of money has been invested in mining, it will take a while before dollars translate into more metal. And miners, goaded on by the profits realized by mining companies, make labour action more likely. Michael Lewis, Deutsche Bank’s global head of commodity research, told Reuters that supplies of copper, nickel and zinc may be disrupted. Codelco and Inco are two companies that may face labour disruption. Codelco operates the world's largest copper mine.
Consolidation continued apace in September. CVRD has a few more regulatory hurdles to clear before it acquires Inco. Analysts are already eulogizing the Canadian nickel miner. John Hughes, an analyst with Desjardins Securities told the Canadian Press, that “it’s a sad day overall for the mining industry.” Other notable mergers were Barrick Gold's acquisition of Pioneer Metals who fought the Can$1.5 billion hostile takeover bid by launching two lawsuits claiming that Barrick Gold misled investors. To date, Barrick has acquired 89 percent of the shares of Pioneer. Ashton Mining of Canada fought its takeover by Stornoway Diamond claiming that the offer was inadequate. Stornoway declared receipt of 68.2 percent of Ashton’s stock.

McArthur River is the world's largest high-grade uranium deposit. It is located in northern Saskatchewan, 620 kilometres north of Saskatoon. The mine was discovered in 1988 beneath 500 metres of sandstone at McArthur River. The property consists of 21 claims and 1 lease totaling 84,818 hectares.
McArthur River is an underground mine that began operating in 1999. It is the world's most productive uranium mine, contributing approximately 20% of total global uranium mining production. The mine has a life expectancy of more than 20 years with a production capacity of 18.7 million pounds of uranium per year. There are proven and probable reserves of 437 million pounds of U3O8.
Ore is recovered using the raisebore mining method. Ore is ground to a slurry, pumped to the surface to tanks and stored until it is loaded into specially designed containers for the 80- km truck haul to Key Lake processing plant. At Key Lake, a specifically designed unloading facility receives the ore. Ore from McArthur is blended for processing with low-grade ore stockpiled at Key Lake. more »
