Antamina, PUCP and EduMine collaborate on the development of mining courses in Spanish

The Antamina Mine is located in the Andes Mountains in north-central Peru. The deposit is one of the largest copper-zinc ore bodies in the world. Antamina employs 1,400 people directly and 3,500 indirectly. Antamina has a site enrollment with EduMine to provide access to online courses and certification for its employees.

In a drive to increase the availability of mining technology to its personnel, and to the mining community in Peru, Antamina is sponsoring the translation of EduMine courses into Spanish. The translations are performed by the mining department of PUCP (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú) in Lima.

Eight online courses, including topics in geotechnical engineering, reserves reporting and mineral processing, will be translated in the first phase. This project will significantly increase the availability of online learning and certification for Antamina personnel and the Spanish-speaking mining community. A total of six EduMine courses are currently available in Spanish more »

InfoMine Companies & Properties

A Wealth of Information, Growing All the Time!

CompanyPropertyMine

At Infomine we have a team of analysts updating roughly 5500 mining companies and 17,600 properties, all found in the CompanyMine/PropertyMine section. If you are a long time subscriber you will have seen how our database has grown over the years.

Non-subscribers might be surprised to see the wealth of information you can have access to. We follow the activities of mining companies trading on all the significant stock exchanges in the world that explore and/or mine for precious and base metals, diamonds, uranium, and we have recently added oil sands.

With all of this work to do you might think we would be satisfied - not so. We are fine tuning the information we provide with plans to add even more in the future, making your subscription a more valuable tool for whatever your interest is.

As a sample of what we have been doing lately, we have added London listed mining and exploration companies, and oil sands companies to our coverage. The partnership with our Featured Companies continues to grow as the mining industry sees the benefit of having the Infomine audience, approximately 340,000 strong, given full access to all mining company information.

Subscribers will have noticed that we now carry eResearch reports, independent financial reports, on several mining companies and the list continues to grow. If you are an investor to the mining industry these reports will be of special interest to you. For the suppliers and equipment sales people, a new search criteria, 'Development', has been added to the advanced search. This enables you to easily identify those companies who are at the mine construction stage.

Just as Infomine has something for all involved in this ever growing industry, the CompanyMine/PropertyMine branch of Infomine is also meeting your needs. If you haven't dropped by lately come and see us!

If you would like to see your mineral property on Google Earth and map.infomine.com please email us the latitude and longitude for the mineral property. If you have new property owners information, we also invite you to send us an email.

Conference Proceedings

Do you organize conferences and publish proceedings? If so, read on…..

Conference Proceedings

InfoMine is pleased to introduce a complimentary conference proceedings review service to promote industry knowledge and encourage sales of such proceedings. We invite all mining and mineral exploration conference organizers to send us copies of their conference proceedings so that we can review and post them in appropriate sections of the InfoMine website.

These reviews, written by Jack Caldwell, InfoMine's Technology Division Manager and a 30 year veteran of the mining industry, may also be posted in his personal blog, "I Think Mining".

Reviews will contain links to your website where the proceedings can be purchased. If you do not have sales facilities on your website, or if you would like to supplement your existing sales facilities, InfoMine would be pleased to provide such services via our eStore. For more details, please contact Sahar Pakzad.

Technology Review: Modular & Mobile Buildings

BuildingsWe have all spent time in temporary, mobile, or modular buildings at a mine site. No introduction is needed here for this class of structure, except to note that there is a difference between a mobile and a modular building. Mobile means you can easily pick it up and move it somewhere else—a tent is the ultimate mobile structure. Modular means the parts are made somewhere else and brought to site to be assembled not to be moved again more »

Kisladag gold mine is located in west-central Turkey on the western edge of the Anatolian Plateau. The mine began commercial production on July 1, 2006. It is an open pit, heap leach operation with a planned 14 year mine life. At the height of its production in phase II, the mine will employ 356 people with the majority of its workers drawn from the surrounding region. Infrastructure to support the mine includes an access road, a water well field with a 13-kilometer water pipeline, and a 30-kilometer power transmission line. Supplies and services are available in the city of Usak, 35 kilometers to the north.

Ore is pocessed in a standard heap leach facility containing a three-stage crushing circuit, an overland conveyor to the heap leach pad, mobile conveyors, and a stacker for placing the ore and a carbon adsorption facility (ADR plant) for recovering the gold. The carbon is treated on site in a refinery with the final product being gold doré bars. Although plans to increase production were originally set for year four of mine life, the company has decided to move forward with expansion activities in year two. The expansion will see the mine produce ten million tonnes of ore per year yielding 240,000 ounces of gold. more »
