The Suppliers section is proud to announce the launch of Mine Developments. The objective of this new service is to provide suppliers of products and services with access to up-to-date news and information on mine developments worldwide. The Mine Development overviews provide an ideal opportunity for suppliers to determine if their products and services can be used in the construction of these projects. Although the information provided is limited to properties that have had a feasibility study completed or one that is pending, some overviews list contacts of consultants involved in the project. We encourage you to visit
Mine Developments and see what projects are ideal for your company’s products and services.

In light of events at Huntington Mine, Utah, TechnoMine posted new Technology Reviews on:
Mine-Induced Seismicity and
Rock Bursts . In these reviews, we set out the technical methods and resources that you may want to consult to get the complete story.
In addition, this past month we posted a Technology Review on Rockfill and an accompanying e-Book on Rockfill, both by Allan Breitenbach. In these e-publications, he sets out the complete science and engineering of using mine waste rock to construct foundations, embankments, and dikes of compacted rock. This is sure to be the definitive publication on the topic.
I THINK MINING focused this past month on the events at the Huntington Mine. In those pieces and here again, we express our sympathies for the victims and their families. See these and other pieces that: defend
Bob Murray and his defense of his mines and miners; ask why
MSHA’s Stickler should resign and follow Gonzales; and find out what the
White House truly thinks of MSHA.
FROM THE GROUND UP is a new InfoMine blog by Masters student Patrick Littlejohn. His piece on Gold Chemistry, Caveat Emptor examines mining frauds through the ages and even today that involve false claims of success with mystery lixiviants.
ReclamationMine is edited by Kim Bitman of Teck Cominco and serves as the mouthpiece of the British Columbia Technical & Research Committee on Reclamation. It is thus fitting that the most significant
announcement on this site and elsewhere on InfoMine this month was that
Teck Cominco donated $100,000 to the
Canadian Red Cross for use in assisting victims of the Peru earthquake. We applaud this act.
