In the July issue, MINING.com Magazine explores the mining software market, from complex, well-known solutions to applications by subscriptions and free software available on the Internet. We interview some of the young professors who are leading the new generations of mining professionals to understand the advantages of applying IT in their daily practices.
In our commodity focus, we look at the gold market and its expected behaviour over the next 18 months. We also explore the current gold value and its industrial applications. Finally, MINING.com turns its eyes toward the U.S. where mining provides Americans with higher than average paying jobs and local state and federal government with a tax income.

The CostMine division of InfoMine is currently conducting its 2008 Exploration Compensation
Survey. As you well know, the compensation package your company offers its exploration
employees is a critical element in your company's success. It impacts the quality,
stability and productivity of your workforce, and as one of the largest, if not
the largest, cost items on your company's expense sheets. Consequently, the crafting
of a well-designed, competitive package is a vitally important undertaking, requiring
a great deal of skill and knowledge.
You and your company are invited to participate. We are also surveying consultants and current consulting rates.
All participants receive a free executive summary of the results and a substantial
discount on the final report and there is no charge for participating. Our 2006
International Exploration report included compensation practices at 155 exploration
offices in 31 countries and consultant rates for 54 consulting geologists working
throughout the world. This year we plan to include even more.
Here is your opportunity to keep abreast of the wages, benefits and bonuses other
companies are offering their exploration professionals. To participate, contact
Krista Noyes Salzer - ksalzer@infomine.com to request a survey form or call her
at (509) 328-8023 for more information. Deadline for submission is August 15,
2008.
