Paleolimnological Analysis of Sediment Cores from the Athabasca Oil Sands Area
Environment Canada seeks a qualified laboratory to conduct specified paleolimnological analyses and interpretation on sediment cores collected under the Joint Monitoring Plan.
The successful candidate shall analyze lake sediment samples from dated corers provided by Environment Canada. These will be collected from natural ponds and lakes in northeastern Alberta. Proponents must supply a detailed operating procedure for each paleolimnological method as part of their proposal in order for the Scientific Authority to make a thorough evaluation of the bid.

Scope of Work
The Supplier shall, on an "as and when requested" basis, as detailed in the Call-up(s) issued by the Department, provide the
services for one of the following:

The work associated with RFPs issued under this Supply
Arrangement will be completed within Canada (Northern Canada).
The Contractor should be aware that work associated with this
supply arrangement often occurs in isolated posts, as considered
by the Federal Government. Many services commonly available in
the South may not be available or will take extra time if
shipping to/from a Southern location is involved (i.e., courier,
mail, plane schedules, repairs to equipment, etc.).

The laboratories of NRCan MMS CANMET Mining have five instruments as part of the mineralogical characterization facilities. Four of the instruments are electron microscopes and one is a carbon evaporator. All of these instruments are JEOL brand and are made by JEOL. Therefore for all the repairs must be done by JEOL technicians to ensure full technical compatibility. These instruments require maintenance to keep them operational.
