The Climax Mine is located 21km north east of Leadville, Colorado, United States. A feasibility study is currently ongoing regarding the reopening of the open pit molybdenum mine which has been on care-and-maintenance status since 1995.
The mine will require a capital investment of approximately $200 million to $250 million for a new, state-of-the-art concentrator and associated facilities. Assuming a favorable feasibility study and market conditions and timely receipt of permits, the mine could resume operation by the end of 2009.
