The McMurray Formation, Great Divide is located 80km south west of Fort McMurray and contains the significant bitumen reserves that make up the Athabasca Oil Sands area.

It is anticipated that the project will produce up to 1,600 m3/d (10,000 bbl/d) of bitumen over a design life of 25 years. Accordingly, this proposed steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) operation is estimated to recover about 14 million m3 (90 million barrels) of bitumen. Produced bitumen will be diluted and delivered to a third-party pipeline for shipment to refinery markets in Canada and the United States. Infrastructure including highways and pipelines are already in place.
