Kipoi mineral property covers 5,500 ha and is located in southern Democratic Republic of Congo. The company has the right earn a 60% interest in the property from its Congolese partners.
The conceptual exploration target is to define 1 million tones of contained copper resource which would allow the project to reach a future capacity of 100,000 tonnes per year copper metal.
Actual mineral reserves stand at 2.68 Mt at 7.0% copper, 0.2% cobalt, 4.5 g/t silver for a cut off grade of 3.25% copper.
A favorable Definitive Feasibility Study envisions a Stage 1 truck and shovel mining operation able to produce 0.9 million tones ore per year over a 3 year mining life. All the major equipment would be leased; repair and maintenance contracts would also be awarded to third parties.
A process plant would be built and it would comprise crushing, scrubbing and heavy media separation operations and would produce 120,000 tonnes of 25% copper concentrates per year. Two shaft furnaces would be built and would produce 32,000 tonnes per year of black copper ingots grading 95 to 98 percent copper.
Stage 2 would comprise an acid leach and SX/EW plant able to produce 1 million tones per year LME grade copper metal cathodes.
Infrastructure (roads, railway, power lines) existing in place reduced the cost of development.
Employees would be housed in existing local communities, which would benefit from upgrades of their health and educational facilities amongst others.
