Welcome to the Cantung Mine Campus on EduMineThe Cantung Mine is located in the Nahanni area of western Northwest Territories, Canada, approximately 300 km by road northeast of Watson Lake, Yukon. The Cantung deposit was discovered by prospectors in 1954 while looking for copper in the area. The mine commenced production in 1962 from an open pit, underground mining began in 1974 and continues today. The mill at Cantung produces tungsten concentrate with copper concentrate as a secondary product. The mine currently employs 230 full time workers and is capable of processing 1200+ tonnes of ore daily. Cantung is touted as being the western world's largest supplier of tungsten.
