AREVA Resources Canada Inc.

Professional Development

Welcome to the AREVA Resources Canada Inc. Campus on EduMine

Founded in 1993, COGEMA Resources (now AREVA Resources Canada Inc) combines all of the group’s mining operations in Canada, including those that previously operated under the names AMOK, Interuranium Canada and Urangesellschaft Canada.

AREVA Resources Canada Inc is a major component of the group’s mining business unit, of which it is a wholly owned subsidiary. It specializes in exploration for and mining of uranium deposits in Canada, with its mineral assets located mainly in the northern part of Saskatchewan Province. There, AREVA Resources Canada Inc operates three mining sites: Cluff Lake (undergoing reclamation), McClean Lake (in operation) and Midwest (under development), in which it holds 100%, 70% and 70.5% of the shares respectively.

AREVA Resources Canada Inc is also a partner in the McArthur mine (in operation) and Cigar Lake mine (under development), in which it holds 30.2% and 37.1% of the shares respectively. These two deposits are considered the richest in the world today, both in terms of their exceptional  tonnage and the high grade of their reserves. Orefrom McArthur River is processed at the Key Lake plant (in operation) operated by Cameco Corporation, in which AREVA Resources Canada Inc holds a 16.7% share.  Ore from Cigar Lake will be processed mainly at McClean Lake’s JEB plant (in operation), and at the Rabbit Lake plant (in operation), which is owned by Cameco Corporation.

AREVA Resources Canada Inc is the second largest uranium producer in Canada, after Canadian company CAMECO.
