UBC Mining Engineering

Professional Development

Welcome to the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering Campus on EduMine

The Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia and EduMine have collaborated on the provision of continuing education for professionals in mining and the geosciences since 2003.

Many of the courses on EduMine have been developed by UBC faculty, and EduMine courses supplement the mining engineering curricula for undergraduate and graduate students. The Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering Campus provides faculty and students with unrestricted access to EduMine courses, tools and publications for technical reference, teaching and learning purposes.

UBC Mining Certificate Program

The UBC Mining Certificate Program is supported by collaboration between UBC Continuing Studies, the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering, the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum, and EduMine. The program is based on unique courses designed to meet the lifelong learning needs of the mining community. This innovative model of learning uses a flexible approach to continuing education and cross-training of people in the mining industry and related trades. The program combines the convenience of online learning with the mentoring and peer-review benefits of short, intensive classroom courses, and completes the learning experience by assigning a take-away project.
