YMTA

Professional Development

Welcome to the YMTA Campus on EduMine

The Yukon Mine Training Association (YMTA) is a partnership between the Yukon’s mining industry and First Nations who are committed to working together to maximize employment opportunities emerging from the growth of the mining- and resource- related sectors in the Yukon and Northern British Columbia for First Nations and other Yukoners.

The YMTA funds and facilitates community support programs, skills-specific and safety training programs, as well as working with industry, communities and government to develop standards and curriculum that are and Yukon-specific.

Objective of YMTA

The overall objective of the YMTA is to provide leadership and awareness in the development of employment skill initiatives to meet the needs of the mining industry, communities, First Nations and Yukoners. Under the main objective, applications must meet the following:

  • To ensure First Nations and other Yukoners  gain skills needed to access jobs in the mining sector;
  • To ensure First Nations and other Yukoners are able to retain the jobs acquired;
  • To ensure ongoing needs for a labour pool for mining projects are met;
  • To address existing and upcoming labour shortages in a strategic, integrated and coordinated matter;
  • To form true and lasting partnerships for human resource development.
Using EduMine Campus, YMTA is encouraging the advancement of the Yukon and Northern B.C.’s workforce in introductory and professional areas as well as technical and management areas. The EduMine Campus at YMTA provides a platform for technical reference, learning and professional development for those currently involved in the mining or resource-related industries and for those who would like to obtain employment in the mining sector.
